Alla was born on July 5, 1944 in Moscow Russia to parents Iosif Ambramovich Sverdlov and Eva Naumovna Peresovskaya. She grew up alongside her siblings Artur and Svetlana. She graduated from the Moscow Aviaton Institute and taught physics and mechanics in a college in Moscow. She loves reading, organizing, and fine art. She lived all her life in Moscow, part of her extended family emigrating to the U.S.
